Our DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) DMP (Direct Metal Printing) technology uses a precise laser to micro-weld the particles of powdered metal to create fully functional components. Using materials like Inconel, Stainless and Maraging Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, and Cobalt Chromium, the DMLS process creates chemically pure components that are over 99% dense without the need for tooling. With the ability to capture fine feature detail, DMLS is a great solution for complex designs that cannot be created through traditional manufacturing methods.
Materials: ProtoCafe uses an open source system that has the capability to run any metal that has a powder form. Most common materials include: stainless steel, tool steel, super alloys, non-ferrous alloys, precious metals, and alumina.
Layer thickness range: Adjustable, min10 μm; max 50 μm
Build envelope capacity (X x Y x Z): 5.51 x 5.51 x 4.92 in (140 x 140 x 125 mm)
Repeatability: x=20 μm, y=20 μm, z=20 μm
Minimum detail resolution: x=100 μm, y=100 μm, z=20 μm
Accuracy: Typical accuracy is +/- 0.002 in (+/- 50 μm) on small parts, +/- 0.2% on large parts
Surface finish quality: up to 200 Ra micro inches (5 Ra μm). Parts can also receive the same post processing steps as any other metal parts.
